About Event:
Delivered by Craig Pinkney, the seminar will focus on: “Youth Violence is Everyone's Business”
Crime affects us all, but when it’s happening on our doorstep to our children, our families, friends, and neighbours we feel personally devastated and feel the impact of anger, fear, isolation, helplessness and even revenge.
We all want to live in a safe area that offers opportunities for us all to flourish and live a good life. So instead of focusing on punishment, SNaP Youth calls for us all to come together to Regain a Sense of Power and Focus on Prevention. Getting involved and working together for the good of everyone.
This doesn’t just require us to attend a seminar, it calls us to Social Action. By joining together and offering our skills we can address the root causes of gang involvement and anti-social behaviour, help break the cycle and prevent violence from happening, and support young people to move forward.
Working Together in Partnership is Key. ‘When a community works together towards a common goal, it becomes stronger and more resilient. Conversely, if each member of the community works in isolation for their own personal gain, the community becomes weak and fragmented'.
Working together we will, build a local reputation and others will see that we are:
• Committed to Our Community.
• Working Together to Tackle Community Issues.
• Creating Opportunities for Positive Change.
• Not giving up on young people – believing that everyone deserves a second chance!
What’s Your Role in Making Change?
• Mentoring – can you give your time, knowledge, and experience to support a young person work through issues?
• Work Experience – can you offer a work placement to a young person who has given up on themselves, their ambitions, and dreams?
• Volunteer Youth Support Worker – can you give your time to support the delivery of local youth services?
• Professional Specialist Service and Resource – can you work with SNaP Youth to plan, develop and deliver educational workshops around county lines, sexual exploitation, life skills, and employability?
• Professional Training Event, led by Craig Pinkney (limited spaces available)
